Salmon are a species of freshwater fish belonging to the genera Oncorhynchus, Salmo, and Salvelinus, all of the subfamily Salmoninae of the Salmonidae family.

Geographical location

Iran is the largest producer of salmon in the world. Therefore, there are numerous salmon farms in the whole country.

Annual production in Iran: It is 120,000 tons.
The main production areas in Iran: Lorestan, Fars, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari.
