Iran and Russia have signed a contract for the supply of food, agricultural, and horticultural products to one of the largest chain stores in Russia. The agreement was signed between the parent company “Tchir” in Russia and Romakgostar Company in Mazandaran, Iran. This contract allows Iranian export products to be introduced with the Iranian brand name and logo in the affiliated stores of Tchir throughout Russia.
In recent years, Iran has experienced significant growth in the export of agricultural and food products to Russia. However, Iranian goods have not been available in large chain stores in Russia until now. With the signing of this contract, not only will agricultural, horticultural, and food products, as well as flowers, plants, citrus fruits, and Iranian rice be supplied to Tchir chain stores in Russia, but also cooperation will begin in greenhouse construction and transportation infrastructure between the two companies.
Seyyed Mahmoud Hosseinpour, the governor of Mazandaran, who led a delegation of businessmen and economic activists from the province on a visit to Russia, stated during the signing ceremony: “To achieve a trade volume of 10 million tons through three major ports in Mazandaran, as desired by the President, we need to complete the infrastructure, especially the completion of the North-South rail corridor.”
He also mentioned the progress made in port infrastructure and maritime transportation, stating that a significant portion of these infrastructure projects has been completed, while the rest is under construction.
Seyyed Mahmoud Hosseinpour emphasized that the commercial delegation’s visit to Russia was part of the government’s economic diplomacy efforts to strengthen relations with neighboring countries, and added: “Positive agreements have been reached in meetings with officials and governors of four Russian regions, and the contract between the two companies from Mazandaran province and the Russian Tchir company will mark the beginning of collaborative document signing.”
Kazem Jalali, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Russia, also referred to the significant capacities of Iranian provinces and said: “Russia is a vast country, and some of its regions are larger than many countries in the world.”
He considered the development of inter-provincial cooperation as an important policy of the government and added: “Iranian provinces, especially the northern provinces, due to their proximity and specialized, productive, and industrial capabilities, can contribute to the expansion of economic cooperation between Iran and Russia.”
